Refund on unused train tickets

I had to go to London on business last week. I bought 2 single tickets - not advance or anything just standard tickets at £24.50 each.
I ended up getting a lift into the meeting so didn't use the outgoing ticket and I was wondering if I took it to the train station would I get a refund?

You need to post it in and you may get vouchers to use on another journey. You are supposed to send them in before the date on the ticket so they may not do anything. Why buy a standard ticket in advance? Normally you would buy a standard ticket on the day of travel.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

From the National Rail website, for Anytime and Off Peak tickets;Refunds
Your ticket is refundable.
If you decide not to use your ticket to make all or part of your intended journey then you can get a refund by returning your unused ticket to the ticket office or place of purchase (for tickets bought via websites, telesales or travel agents) within 28 days of the ticket expiry date. You may be required to pay an administration fee.
The refund amount will normally take into account any use you have made of the ticket and in some circumstances no refund will be paid.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0
