in Credit cards
Hi I am wondering if anyone can help me.
I had a credit card with Capital one that after loosing my job became bottom of my priorities for paying off. I have had a few calls and texts of a company called CSL about this debt.
I rang them to speak to them and explained that I wasn't working and I am currently only getting £110 into my bank account each month. As my partner is working I am not eligible for Job seekers. My partner is paying all my bills but doesn't know about this debt. While speaking to them they asked for the household income which I told them again that I am only getting £110 into my bank account each month and that the debt is mine not my partners so his earnings shouldn't come into it.
I have offered them £10 a month until I can get a job but they have rejected this, they want £45 a month which I cannot physically afford, I am already paying £20 towards another debt £10 towards another credit card and I am stuck in a £50 contract with orange until September.
I have no idea what to do I feel like I have no where to turn!! they were quite aggressive with me over the phone and am scared to ring them again. I rang capital one to see if I could come to an arrangement with them and they cant do anything. I'm scared that they are going to come to my house and start being aggressive.
At the moment I cannot find a job I had a great job working from home which was great until the company went bust. I have a 3 year old son and he gets 15 hours a week at nursery but I cant find any jobs to fit around those hours. Until he goes to school next September I am restricted to what I can work, no-one seems to want to employ someone who can do so limited hours!!

Don't call them.
If csl write to you write back to set out that you can only afford £x per month as you are currenly unemployed. Ask them to freeze interest & charges on the account.
If they phone you, tell them that you will not discuss this on the phone and to write to you - and then hang up.
The chances of them coming to your house are remote. If they do then simply ask them to leave - they have absolutely no rights and must leave your property if asked.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Thanks Tixy I will do that. Are there letter templates anywhere that I can use??
Bugsy I cant get them to give me details of how to pay and they wont listen to me. All my other debtors (sp) were understanding and let me come to an agreement.0 -

I would ask for their bank details to set up a standing order with your account reference number.
If you pay by card or DD they may well abuse them and take more than they are entitled to or take it more frequently, leaving you with nothing.
if you pay by cheque, they have all the info they need to set up a DD. Naughty, but possible.:beer:0 -
National debtline sample letters has various template letters you could use as a base for your letter - which ask them to freeze interest and ask either for their bank details to set up a standing order or for a paying in book so you can pay at a bank/post office.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

CSL (credit soloutions limited) are part of the power2contact group, they do field visits and know 100% for sure.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
