just a quick question, what colour is new electrical wiring, not sure if we are being fobbed off by our electrician, OH went to have a look and said the backs of the plug sockets are still rusty, and the wiring looks like the old type.
Getting very concerned as he said it would take a week, did not show up last monday, only to recieve a phone call at 3.30 to say they would not start until tuesday. So they have had a week and he is now saying it will be completed on Thursday.

What work are you having done?
New cable colours are Brown (live) and Blue (Neutral).
For 3 Core cables (2 way switching, fans etc) are Brown (core 1), Black (core 2) and Grey (core 3)
Make sure you get paperwork (part P, if you live in England and Wales) before handing final payment.baldly going on...0 -

http://wiki.diynot.com/electrics:cable_types:flatpvccables - link to pics of the cables. As baldelectrician says - for full rewire you need Part P sign off from them - there is a further explanation of that on the diynot.com site (and the other regs for Scotland if you are there).
If you're unsure they are doing the work you need to mark the sockets / cables in someway
