Printer Help Please

I have an HP Photosmart printer/copier/scanner and its great. But the computer it's linked to is dying, and the new comp is Windows 7. The discs that came with the printer are for XP or Vista or 2000. How can I make it work with Windows 7 on the new comp- is there a way, or will I have to buy a new printer?

You could try to install the Vista driver on Windows 7 - it's the closest you'll get.
If that doesn't work, you might try to find a slightly newer all-in-one printer in the same range which actually has a Windows 7 driver, but that could be a tedious process, given how long it takes to install HP drivers! You might also lose the copier/scanner facilities.
If all fails, then, yes, it's a new printer. (The Canon Pixma all-in-ones are well-spoken-of)0 -

Go to HP's website and look for software/driver downloads, all you need to do is select the right printer and if you are lucky it will come with the update drivers.
Otherwise with windows 7 you can use the plug and play feature make sure you are connected to the internet aswell, and let it search for the correct drivers itself.ewwwww what is that...0 -
Ok ty very much both, off to have a look x0

depending on printer it may not need drivers at all when connected to the windows 7 computer, i noticed that when i connected my epson sx200 printer to my windows 7 it installed the windows 7 drivers for it, and it works perfectly, so hook it up, plug in the usb lead and turn it on, if a found new hardware window comes up and it then says its installing drivers for it, it should be ok.0

I have a HP all in one printer that I've had for years. It works perfectly with my current Win 7 laptop, but I did have to go to the HP website and download the drivers.
Hope this helpsI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
