Social Tarrif/Warm Home Discount and switching suppliers

I have been with the same gas and electric supplier for approx 4 years
(Atlantic) and as i am disabled for the last few years I have been on the Social Tarrif and now the The Warm Home Discount Scheme,

What I would like to do is shop around for another supplier however because i get the Discount/Social Tariif I have not changed.
sadly none of the comparison websites allow you to select a social tarif only option
according to all of the comparison searches Sainsbury Energy would be cheaper for me if it were a standard tarrif
So what can I do? do I stick with my current supplier whose prices are no longer the lowest (before being discounted) or do I go with a new supplier and hope they offer a discount?

I would suggest you post details of your tarrif and a.n.others might confirm if they get a better deal.

Alternatively contact a.n.other suppliers and ask what their social tarrif is. This may not be the supplier with lowest standard tarrif.

I do wonder why utility companies do not publish their social tarrif?

I'm not 100% sure but comparison sites may not list them because social tariff are not freely available at acquisition, customer's have to apply for them and if they meet company set criteria they will be placed on them. So being on a social tariff with company A then transferring to company B does not guarantee you will be placed on their social tariff as their criteria may differ. This is one reason the government chose to enforce the Warm Home discount, as it's guidelines are far more clear. most the main suppliers offer this discount now instead of a social tariff, so if you moved to the supplier with the best tariff for you, you would apply for the warm home discount with them and get the same savings.

You don't need your current tariff listed to use the comp sites. You know what you are paying now, so just put in any current tariff to obtain the comparative data for the best new tariff.
