    Have fun!

I guess you may be visiting the Natural History Museum? But do you know they have an indoor Picnic Area? So you can have the fun (I hope!) of choosing food with your family - maybe in a market? - and then eating it a few yards from a dinosaur! And if the weather's good you can picnic in the NHM garden.

Maybe other museums have similar facilities. And lots and lots of parks to enjoy (but I think you're discouraged from sharing picnics with the ducks nowadays. Not good for them).

When I took my daughter to France (aged 6 3/4) we always bought from markets and little shops and then picniced. Double the fun - and good for the budget! I remember people looking rather enviously (I think!) at our spread outside the Louvre!

All the standard MSE vouchers etc. apply almost everywhere except the biggest event venues e.g. the O2 Dome.

I love Slug & Lettuce for their "Happy Mondays" - 50% off all food, all day Monday.

Wahaca for some Mexican street eating in Covent Garden or Soho, or vietnamese baguessts "Ban Mi" are the latest craze, but I've not come across them yet....

Also The Stockpot is very cheap....they are in Panton Street opposite the Comedy Theatre, on Old Compton Street, Soho and on the Kings Road (Sloane Sq). Checkout their website for details....

If your kids are reasonably adventurous with food, they'd probably love the food court at Camden Lock: Loads of different ethnic stalls selling hot food. You buy what you fancy, usually around £3/£4 for a big portion and eat al fresco at one of the tables. The same happens at Brick Lane market on a Sunday.
