Flint is the hardest commonly found stone in the UK, and as others have said, breaks with razor-sharp edges. I wouldn't waste time & energy breaking it, let alone risk the cuts, bruises and aches that will result.

It is a beautiful stone, especially when wet. How about a water feature? Build a rockery? Mark edges of paths? Place fragments around pots (helps keep the water in, and the weeds at bay)? Use stones to mark bulbs and other subterranean plants? How about WITH safety glasses, practice flint knapping, preparing yourself for the inevitable Holocaust that cometh, so you can survive "Mad Max" style? Make bow with sharp arrows to rid yourself of those pesky woodpigeons that strip the blossom from the trees?

At the very least, stick it in a heap for a few months, else you'll dump it on Freecycle, then tink of a use for it a couple of months later.

If your drainage is poor how about using them to build a sump or soakaway?

That is an idea. I am starting to think drainage is okay, as now the spring is here, and I am doing a lot of digging, I find most of the soil is not waterlogged. It is though damper at the bottom of the garden, so perhaps I could double dig that area, and leave them at the base of the trench.

If there's only soil above all stones will gradually find their way back to the surface. Well, actually I think it's the soil settles down but the outcome is the same. You'll just end up having to take them out again.
