Flight Tax "Confused"

We are looking at quotes for two one way tickets to SJO (Costa Rica) Late in November and so far have been quoted £345 each with a total of £905 including taxes. that meand that we are being charged £130 each in tax for these tickets 35% Tax.
Does anyone know how the tax is worked out on a one way long haul ticket? as it seems steep! It seems the tax on a return ticket is the same amount of cash but not in percentage. Any ideas welcome Thank you

As has already been said, a large percentage of the £130 ( £80) will be APD, but to elaborate a little more the other charges will include a passenger service charge (levied by the airport - approx £12), a security charge (due to 9/11 - £10 approx) and a hefty fuel surcharge (Jet A1 - is at a premium price currently) which most major carriers charge. All in all £130 or thereabouts is what I'd expect to pay. You could also be charged fees for airport construction at destination or anything else locally.0
