Ebay has not been good to me the past few weeks. And I'm not sure what to do here.
Ordered an item on 20th of last month, marked as shipped on 21st.
I got an email 26th saying the item had been out of stock and had not actually been shipped to me. But would be that day.
Got the items today (two covers for the back of an iPhone) one was absolutely fine, the other was covered in scratches. I also noticed postage was £1 when I'd paid £4, usually I don't care about stuff like that but given the poor communications it annoyed me.
I emailed the seller, they've replied saying I can return for a refund, and the extra postage was for their travel costs. I'm sorry, I have no issue paying for both postage and packing costs but I'm nt paying their travel costs, that, to me should be factored into the item cost.
I've replied telling the seller I'm not happy about that and saying that I assume they'll then be paying my return postage and any travel costs involved in me returning their less than stellar product.
Now, I obviously don't want to be out of pocket since they stuffed up with communications and delivery. And the item is not usable.
What's the best way to make sure I don't end up out of pocket here?
Thanks.

You can't!
Open a SNAD dispute and you will have to return items. The seller will then have to refund ALL ORIGINAL payment, inc' postage.
They will not be forced to repay YOUR costs in sending the items back to them.Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
Marvellous lol.
Messed about with delivery, sent a crappy item and I'll end up out of pocket for it lol.
I'd list it myself if it was anywhere near useable.
I told the seller I'm not happy and they've replied saying I should check ebays rules on p&p. Postage only really annoyed me because I paid postage for two items and it was sent was one package. And with the wait and crappy coms.Sigless0 -
I had exactly the same, crap product that i returned and was left out of pocket.
All you can do is return (if its worth it!) then neg em' and hammer the stars.they deserve it.Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
Totally agree here.
While a half-decent seller would reimburse your return p&p costs, it appears as though you won't have much hope with that. Just return the items and you will get the total original payment back.
What does he mean "eBay's rules on p&p?" Postage and packing means just that really: petrol costs not included, cost of wearing down your shoe leather not included, stopping off for a cup of coffee and a muffin on the way to the post office not included.
As above - feedback left should reflect your overall opinion of the transaction, and will be used by future [potential] buyers from this seller. So mark it down as you see fit.0 -
I'm going to open a paypal despute I think as I don't see the seller refunding my postage as as well as item cost.
How will it work if I open a despite for one item when I bought two?Sigless0
