HP touchsmart DVD driver

My DVD drive is detected but the driver has an error 52.

(Brand new machine, not the fastest I know but space is more important than performence!)

I have uninstalled and rebooted. The drive is detected but the software can't install.

Any pointers gratefully recieved!

Have you got the model number for the drive, and the operating system used

No joy. Furthe research shows it;s a well known windows problem due to its obsession with driver signatures. Can't work out how to turn off validation at boot, the usual setting is missing!

Is well under warranty so after 30 pages clicks I finally found out how to contact HP... worst website ever!

Did they help you with it?

Get whatever help you can in warranty as they don't seem to helpful when it is out of warranty

they're going to call back within 24 hours. Is just out the box so will be peeved if they can't help!! In fairness I hardly use a dvd drive, but still, the principle!
