Cheap Hotels In Malmo

I'm hoping to be in Malmo, Sweden, for a conference around mid-May (14th-17th).
So far, its looking like flights aren't too expensive £50 per person, return, but hotels are coming up as being upwards of £200 for a double room for three nights.
Is this just because I'm looking too early, and they won't come down in price for a while, or is Malmo a really expensive place to stay?
There would be two of us going, and neither of us drive. We're not after anywhere posh, just a clean place to sleep and grab a shower. Can anyone please recommend anywhere more reasonable to stay, in or near Malmo?
