Seeing the sights on a normal London bus?

Hiya,
I'm sure I have read on here that you can see all the sights of London on a normal bus. Obviously you won't get the guided tour talk but on the plus side I'm hoping we can save a few £s by using our travel card and not extra for the tour,
Please can anyone tell me if this is doable, I've been googling for ages but can find what info I need, like weather it's just one bus and what number that bus is?
Thanks xxx

Typically as soon as I posted I just found this lol
http://www.inlondonguide.co.uk/london-journey-planner/cheap-london-bus-tour.html
Will we see things like Buckingham palace, big Ben etc on either of these buses?
Oh we are planning on doing the London eye... Ideally this will be our first stop so coming from Watford junction , I'm presuming we will come into London Euston and then go where to get to the eye?
Ohhhhhh London is sooooo confusing lol
Thanks again x0 -
It will be on multiple buses which could get confusing if new to London.
The 24 is quite good, you could see Camden, Leicester Square/Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, down to Westminster and (if you get off) Buckingham Palace (via a side road).

Or from Victoria Station get the 73 past the Royal Parks towards Marble Arch and Oxford St.
From Westminster you can easily walk across the river to the London Eye/Southbank etc. A lot of London is easily walkable too.
You should be able to pick up a Central London bus map from Transport for London, they do have pdf's online of the routes but they aren't very good for printing..
From Euston you could get the Northern line tube down to Waterloo and walk to the London Eye/Southbank, then great views from that side of the river going left to Westminster across the bridge and then walk up to Buckingham Palace via Victoria Street then either pick up the 24 bus and get on and off that to see the sites on the way to Camden or you can walk via St James' Park towards Pall Mall to Leicester Sq/Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Oxford St, Soho...
Best to start with a list of places you want to visit as there are so many...0 -
Number 15 from Trafalgar Square goes down Fleet Street to St Pauls, Tower and Tower Bridge. It's also one route which has some traditional London buses running.
The 73 will get you all the way from Euston to the Royal Mews which are at the back of Buckingham Palace. 5 minutes walk and you will be in front of the Palace.0 -
Another vote here for No 15. We did this bus route last year from Oxford Street to Tower of London, sat on a Routemaster. Great way to see the sights when you've bought a 1 day travelcard!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Ooh I might go on the number 15 myself, not been on that one!0

If you get the no 15, you can then change at Tower Hill (Tower Gateway) to the RV1. This will then take you across Tower Bridge, pass London Bridge and Borough Market to Waterloo and then round to Covent Garden.0

The number 9 also has old-style Routemasters and goes from Charing Cross station to Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Hyde Park, Harrods, the museums, Kensington Palace, Royal Albert Hall etc."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

Sounds like you need the map on page 6 of this tourist guide:

How much does it cost for the bus ? You can do the sight seeing one for only £23 and sit upstairs on an open top and it has several drops all of which are outside tourist attractions and you can hop on and off as many times as you like in 24 hours. It also includes a FREE cruise down the River Thames. See https://www.theoriginaltour.com. I also learnt a lot from the live commentary.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

Bus travel is included in travelcard prices. The more you use it the cheaper each journey becomes.0
