savings and tax credits

old aunty died and let me some money in her will i am a single parent working 16 hrs a week and get wtc and child tax credits will this windfall affect the credits

    Tax credits are not affected by any savings except that you have to declare any interest you make that is over £300 a year.

    How much are we talking about?

    In a few years time, tax credits will be scrapped when the Universal Credit system is introduced and the means tested capital thresholds that apply to income support, housing benefit, council tax, etc, will then apply.
