cavity wall insulation - good idea ?

I suspect cavities were used as 50-80 years ago, blown insulation, Kingspan etc didn't exist! The theory was that the heat from the house warmed the air layer and that insulated against the cold from outside. That's the same as saying you don't need fleece or Goretex to keep you warm as your hairs will stand on end and that creates a warming layer of air over your skin....
Only my opinion, not fact-based at all! (CWI booked for 22 May!)0
