Any "real" curry house suggestions for Bradford or West Yorkshire / Humberside please

Hi, we used to live near Bradford and occasionally would visit the unlicensed curry houses that abound there.
It's ten yrs ago now though and we're hoping to stop off this weekend and try a curry.
I remember great places where the naan's were the size of a cushion cover and the waiters would hang them on special stands.

The food was fantastic.

Can anyone recommend anywhere (that they themselves have been to) of a similar ilk (certainly no chains pls) that are either in Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield or Wakefield?

Kashmir up from the Alhambra is still just about the best small curry house, though we much prefer the Aagrah chain nowadays. If in Huddersfield we have started to use Saims, good food, dodgy location but close to the Slubbers Arms!

I've been to the Aagrah I think. I'm sure there's a big one Pudsey way.
Kashmir sounds promising - is it on the road that leads directly down to the Alhambra? Think there used to be a Greek and a Tapas type restaurant there if it's the same road.

Huddersfield would be good but we've three kids with us so the dodgy location worries me a bit.

Mumtaz pan? Don't know that one

Now here's a subject close to my heart! I live about 3 miles from Bradford and consider myself a bit of a curry fanatic. Depends what you're looking for and price I suppose but my favourites are:
Habibs - in the old Barrack Tavern pub on the right down Old Leeds Road from Leeds direction
Akhtars - On the left on Leeds Road heading into Bradford and just after Akhbars which does the huge Naans on stands but is now over- priced and over rated IMHO
Saffron - Leeds Road again and just before Akhbars

Habibs and Saffron are larger restaurants and higher priced. Akhtars which is actually my favourite is small, has a modern decor and can't do enough for you.

There is one called Habids which is on the left on Stanningley Road (bottom of Pudsey) heading towards Leeds - haven't managed to get there yet but it comes highly recommended by friends who've used it.

Try Shimla spice they have a fantastic curry house in Keighley and have just opened another in Shipley, best curry for miles around. Been to most curry houses in and around Bradford and I think Shimla is still the best. Oh and you can take your own wine. http://shimlaspice.co.uk/

Thx for all your suggestions. It's certainly given us food for thought

We might even combine now with an overnight stay and give "Anatolias" turkish and Greek restaurant in Cleckheaton a go as it has great reviews.

Got me thinking, we really should have a sticky with regional restaurants (or even listed by type) on the board.
