Hi,
I was hoping that someone will be able to help me please?
I took out a loan from HSBC in 2003 then consolidated it in 2004 with a few other things so I was just making one payment so I think it was treated as a new loan as I got a new account number. I finished paying it off in 2007 and I shreaded the paperwork, as I believed I know longer needed it.
I called HSBC today to see if they could send me a copy of the paperwork and they said that because I took the loan out over 6 years ago they know longer have the information.
Can anyone tell me if I can still claim without the paperwork?
Many thanks
Cathy

Hi and welcome
Not everyone has paperwork, and still makes successful reclaims, although it does help if you can try getting hold of the account numbers, you can do this by checking old bank statements, if you bank online you may track them down this way, for example, the loan account number is normally shown next to the loan monthly repayment.
I would otherwise ask your bank to check this out for you, tell them you its just the account numbers you require.
Another way would be to request a Subject Access Request (SAR) this one they must comply to under the data protection act (DPA), they have 40 calendar days to comply, and you enclose the one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order.
If you request your paperwork under a SAR, they will require an account number, so if you banked with HSBC, if you use your bank account number on the template SAR letter, they must send you details of all the accounts they still hold and that you taken out with them, but otherwise give them as many details as possible, full names, any different surnames, addresses and so on (on the SAR letter somewhere).

But if you do get hold of the account numbers, as stated above, you can continue to make a reclaim by complete the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, remember to save copies as well.
If mis sold for the same reasons, you can keep to the one questionnaire, but you will have to make sure you enclose both numbers, or otherwise complete separately if you prefer.

Thank you very much for your help.0

This PPI was front loaded, a loan on a loan to term end with interest, use this as a reason for mis sell, this is the most upheld of all.
You could find the account numbers from your DD list at your bank.0
