The only thing that worries me is you have spoken about his mental state, does that mean he is of sound mind? If you do get him to do one then I would get a medical signature stating he is of sound mind0

If he did nothing when he was well, he presumably knew that without making a will everything that he had would go to his estranged wife anyway, I can only presume that's what he wants, otherwise wouldnt he have done something about it.
How can yo be sure that its not.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
