Ugly toilet plinth

I recently bought a toilet online, and didn't measure the distance from floor to waste pipe. The plumber fitting it has sat the toilet on a wooden plinth. We've put a laminate floor in since, but still have the plinth under the toilet as an ugly square. Any tips on how to finish it off?
