Random Question Please Help

Hi All,

I need to determine a way to show that a battery powered device has been included in an insulated box. It is a temperature recorded that has a lithium ion or a lithium metal battery (there are 2 types).

Does such a thing exist that would allow me to scan the box and it would let me know if there is battery life inside it?

I looked and remote frequency devices and thermal imaging but these appear very costly.

I know this is random but I'm hoping the vast expertise on the forum stretches to something that will point me in the right direction.

Thanks for any input guys!

Do you live near a city with any buildings where they put your bags through an x-ray machine before letting you enter (I know of quite a few in London)? You could try going there at a quiet time and see if you can find a friendly guard to help.

EDIT - this would tell you if there is electrical gubbins inside, but not necessarily that there is battery life, unless there are moving parts.

Otherwise look for a Schrödinger CAT scanner*

    Would a magnet help?
From memory (and going back more years than I care to remember) a battery will affect the pointer on the magnet as the battery produces a magnetic field.

Mr_fishbulb - Don't Amazon sell those quite cheaply???

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

Do you mean a magnetic compass? These can be bought from most hobby / toy shops, maybe even Poundland

If you did mean magnetic compass I can confirm it works, just tried it with a Christmas cracker one & an AA battery
