daily thread Monday 2nd April 2012

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 2nd April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    morning!

Bit suprised to find no daily thread soI thought I'd start it.

Been awol for a couple of days due to a busy weekend at work. Am off there again shortly.

OS - WM is on, DH will hang it out later. House reasonably clean and tidy, bit of ironing to do. Want to make a cake later when I get home. Need to compile a shopping list as I have only got 1 opportunity to go this week. We have a £5 off a £35 voucher to spend in Aldi this week.

Have mowed the awns so next job is to tackle the flower beds. DH is busy with his veggie garden - he does all that and I cook it :)

(((hugs))) to those who need them.

    Have a great day all

    Take care x

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Sun trying to break through light cloud here this morning but very chilly. DH up and off to work early but not stupid early. Washing already on the line.

Lunch finished up being very late, I was going to stay at home whilst DH went out to do a couple of jobs, but I went with him so lunch didn't get prepped and cooked until we got back, so finished up eating at 3.30pm - but was really delicious. Visited both sets of parents whilst we were out. DH did a bit in the garden whilst I was prepping/cooking lunch - so that's another good job out of the way, will use some of the less stressful time this week to get some more bits planted in the greenhouse.

Dinner tonight is gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash, and veg, there's a small amount of victoria sponge left, that needs using up so that will be dessert. Have menu planned so just need to follow it!

Boys both still in bed and the house is quiet, let them have a late night as no school today, hoping they won't be miserable later, if that becomes a problem will make them go to bed earlier tonight!

Work will no doubt be a manic Monday - start of the new c/tax year and financial year - so will be busy busy busy - deep joy! This is the first time we've had the start of new c/tax year and financial year with the new earlier closing time - we very often have to ask people to leave now let alone when we're really busy - should be interesting!!

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning everyone! I'm looking forward to it being slightly cooler and some rain would be really nice too.
I was allocated a department (transport) for my new job on friday and invited to the offices and have started security checks  I've been trying to decide where to live and though I'm only looking within a small area, the cost of a season ticket varies massively from £180-360 a month! .... It's so daunting :o
Right, in current life I have work today, lots to do on my dissertation tonight and rifle through the freezer. I managed to get a wash dry in the sun yesterday and vacuum so no cleaning whooop!! :j

  • Good morning taplady and all who follow,
Sunny here today but alot cooler.
On school holiday now so got up a bit later. So nice to have the time off. I would like to have a good spring clean. Just make the most of the time off.
Got washing in the machine. Want to get all of yesterdays washining ironed and put away.
Tea tonight is pizza and salad (daughters choice as its her birthday), can't believe she is 17 today. Where does that time go.
Hugs to all of you who have the nasty bug that is doing the rounds at the moment, not nice at all.
Pretty much finished over the allotment for the moment anyway, not much more we can plant yet. Busy times still ahead though.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Good Morning Tappers and all who follow,
well DGS Ben is pleased with his job, he did 4 hours on Saturday night and is back again this Thursday and possibly over the weekend which will give him some spends in his pocket. He kept saying last night at dinner ,there are some really odd people about Granny. He has never really come into contact with the buying public before :)but he is enjoying it which is good and his boss is a Liverpool supporter which in his eyes makes him perfect :)
Looks a bit cloudy at the moment but hopefully it will brighten up.Eldest DD is bringing her car to youngest DDs house this morning so DGS Ben can wash it for her (more pennies in his pocket)and as I shall be there with the three youngest I will be making the coffee as usual :)(she can also try some cake as well) afterwards I shall take all four of the boys to the park after lunch with some squash and cake and their football and that should keep them all happy for awhile.
The boys loved the jam crumblies and they are rather moreish
NSD today as i'm fiscal fasting this week.I'm doing my best to keep my purse locked up to save a few bob more towards the holidays..I still haven't bought any easter eggs yet though I usually buy some for a quid and wrap a fiver in cling film and attach it to the inside of the foil so the boys can have a treat over Easter as they don't have pocket money . I saw an advert for two hot cross buns the other day on t.v. and they wanted 2 for £2.00 !!!!not if they were gold lined would I spent that sort of cash on a couple of buns :)
Well time to get a wriggle on have a brilliant day whatever you are doing
    take care all

    Morning all

It's trying to rain! Can't believe we have had such a long dry spell, quite unheard of around here. Managed to get the electric blanket, mattress protector and all bedding washed from my bed yesterday. My Aunt is coming today and she will have my room so it will be lovely and fresh for her. I slept up the other stairs last night and quite enjoyed the change, felt like I was on holiday!!

Went to Glasgow yesterday and spent my Cath Kidston voucher on a large overnight bag - had to put money towards it but wouldn't have bought it otherwise. DD took me to get something from my favourite jewellers, I chose a lovely silver ring that says Love, Happiness, Joy and Passion around it. I'm so lucky and this big birthday malarky just seems to go on and on!!

Having lasagne for tea, have prepped that already, just going to have a general tidy up and make up the bed for Auntie. Really looking forward to seeing her especially as she didn't make the party (my cousin wouldn't bring her and she lives round the corner from her).

Take care and hugs to those in need. XX

Morning all, very chilly here but the sun is trying to get through. Have put the WM on so hope it comes out later. Now have 2 weeks off school so need to clean and de-clutter, will pop over to flylady thread and follow the plan for the week. Hopefully DD will be home over Easter weekend, she is very busy with Uni work but could also do with some TLC from Mum.
Happy Birthday to your DD Forever saving hope she has a good one. Hugs to all the poorlies and fed ups and huge posivibes for Lou Hope Derek and Clive are being good LW. Have a good day all.:)
