Someone here mentioned that even though the US console will play all region games.

That the PS3 is region Coded and it is the games that are region free. So developers can add region coding to the games at their discression.

Meaning that I might not possibly be able to play UK games on the US consolde at all. Is this correct?

im trying to make a decision whether I should buy the console in the US when i visit next month or buy a UK console here?

No, that is not true, please, don't take the words on the internet as gospel.

The PS3 is region free, the games cannot be made to only play on one region of console, the developers don't have the tools for that.

All the BluRay films I've tried in the PS3 I had worked, ones from the UK worked in my Asian PS3, so so far, the PS3 is region free for BluRay films AND games!

Buy a PS3 in the US, it's cheaper, much cheaper.
