Parking eye

Hi, yesterday we received a parking "fine" notice from parking eye.
Last Saturday 24th March we went to the Lake District for the day, we parked in waterhead car park, purchased a ticket for 2hrs and went off to see the sights. We left an hour and 20minutes later!

The notice from parking eye shows a picture of our car driving in to the car park and another of us leaving. We still had a good 40minutes left on the ticket!

Luckily, we had not thrown away the parking ticket! How many people on a day out leave a car park and throw away their ticket! Is this how Parking Eye operate?? Sending out fines to all the cars or a percentage of them who use the car park? We will follow the advice given on here and ignore Parking Eye! But we will be writing to Watch Dog and our MP. The more people who do this, the more chance of getting these crooks made to pay!

Thanks everyone for your advice!

Was it one of those tickets where you are supposed to enter the reg number of the car? If so, did you get it wrong? Not that it would make you liable to pay, of course, just trying to understand how this happened.

You must now decide what you wish to do. If you are happy just to ignore, then do that. If you prefer to go advanced (YOU sue THEM) then the tactics are just a bit different.

So what does the charge allege you did? Overstayed? Didn't pay? Parked with the shadow of your radio aerial touching a bay marking line?

Try Trading Standards, they might be interested. They have investigated ticketing anomalies before.

Did those images provide time stamps by the way ? The British Pathetic Association (BPA) says they should be on the images. If you are comfortable with things I would go the advanced route like FA says.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Given the date of the incident, when did/was the camera's clock changed from GMT to BST?

What does it matter what time is displayed, it still remains as unenforceable as it was at the start - ignore it

    True.

But I'm cursed with an enquiring mind. What if the camera's clock was, either by accident or design, on BST?

Buy ticket from machine at 12:00 GMT. Time recorded by machine as 12:00 GMT. Stay for 1 hour 40 minutes, and leave at 13:40 GMT. But, time recorded by camera as 14:40 BST.

    14:40 minus 12:00 equals 2 hours 40 minutes. Over 2 hours. Ker-ching!

A good theory, Stephen, but probably defeated by the OP's statement that they parked in order to see the sights of the Lake District. Those sights are not so visible in the middle of the night, so their stay was probably made in daylight.

Would still be interested in the pretext for issuing the ticket though?

They know some mugs will pay an impersonation of authority fake parking ticket, so it is worth their while dishing out a few fake , fakes every now and then.
IGNORE it and ignore all other silly letters.
Beware the impersonations will change to other impersonations of authority characters such as debt collectors and fake solicitors writing silly letters full of ridicules legal jargon in an attempt to scare you in to helping them get rich without having to work for it.
They chose to steal what you work for instead.
