Help with purchasing a netbox or similar to get sky sports on the move

Hi,
We are moving house soon and will be in temporary accommodation for 2 months. We can't live without sky sports so we need to buy a mobile type computer so we can get the internet and sky sports. We are not techie and was a bit lost when we went in currys. We saw there was net books and similar devises and that you can buy a pay as you go dongle and subscribe to sky sports online for 1 month. So I think we kind of know how to do this, but don't know what to buy exactly. Is there any other uses for the netbooks. Wondering what we will be doing with it once we move and have it all set up at home with the pc for internet and tv for sky sports again. Apart from internet can you use them like a laptop? Wordprocessing etc? Sorry totally lost . Keep seeing words like android and just don't know what they mean.

Will be looking to go down to currys in the next day or two to buy a small machine and dongle and subscribe online for sports. Any advice apreciated.

Thanks in advance
Sandra

    Anywhere but Currys please...
A netbook can do just about anything that a laptop can, it just lacks an optical drive, and (obviously) has a small screen and keyboard).
Why don't you just buy a PAYG dongle and access Sky Sports via that on your existing PC or laptop though?
Android is an operating system for phone and tablets, not a type of hardware.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Hi

Many thanks. Great idea! So basically you can buy a PAYG dongle from a shop (not Currys!) plug it in my PC (not just for laptops etc then) and pay for a Sky subscription to see the sports without having broadband connected at home?

    Thanks

Yes. You use the Sky Player app on your computer or iPad/mobile phone.

Pretty much any netbook or laptop will do. If you already have sky, then go onto the website or do a search for Sky go. That allows you to watch sky on a netbook, laptop, tablet, phone any device more or less.

As for dongle, do a search to see what will be the best coverage for the new address will be. Depending on how much you watch sky sports will determine what package you go for. Sky help forum figures that for every 3 minutes watched will use 15MB so for a 90 min match that is 450MB.

So a Three 3G dongle with 1GB for £17 (amazon prices), then instead of topping up, buy a new Three sim for £5, so it could end costing you £2.50 per match. So not going to be cheap (probably cheaper payg, just used Three as an exampl).

Or better still, try and see if you can get Free wifi where you will be staying
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j
