Thank you Piggy Bank Shaker, I'm hoping that once everything is set up and in place, it'll really make a difference.
Oh, another thing I need to research is one of those post office budget cards so that I can save towards the car tax that is due in August.Find a little bit of joy in every day.

Well done, just been reading through and you have already done loads! RE: Piano lessons, I teach Oboe and my going rate is 25 an hour which is cheap - so 12 for presumably half hour is quite reasonable - esp if they are doing well, which sounds like they are!
Keep going - I am currently trying to use up what we have in freezer - I know exactly where I can save money and it's at blooming Tesco!:rotfl:0 -
Just a note of caution. Think if you want to be able to be identified from this site. Giving your kids ages, roughly where you live, the kind of house you have and what you are doing tonight might enable someone to identify you. Please don't take it the wrong way, but as you have seen not everyone is sympathetic with you and you might not want your aquaintances identifying you and your families situation.0

Just checked nationwide, and money transfer still hasn't gone through
. I suspect this means it won't now until after the bank holidays

Hi
First off I think that the way some people judge others is totally unreasonable and unfair. You are trying to sort things out and advice is good but judgemental comments are conter productive. You are a grown up and not a 10 year old.
Second, how old are your debts. It may not be a route you want to go down, but if they are pre 2007 they may be unenforceable. Even if you want to pay everything off, by not having to deal with these for a while it would give you more cash to deal with other debts.
This may have been discussed earlier and if so I apologise0 -
Well the money transfer problem has been sorted, hopefully today! DH had a call at work today and they just wanted to check that it was a valid transaction before actioning it. So, I hope it was actioned today otherwise it won't be until Tuesday, and I want that overdraft gone!!!! Our account only shows transactions up until the close of business yesterday, so hopefully when I check tomorrow, it will look healthier!!

Thanks for that Eschaton, also with all due respect, you don't know everything about our lives, and to make a judgement based on a set of figures is unfair. Yes, I have made mistakes, ones I am desperately trying to rectify, and until your post, was feeling really pleased with ow I was doing.
I'm not a person who likes to cause any bad feeling, so was unsure whether to reply or not, but I do think your reply is a little hurtful. I posted asking for help and advice as to a way forward, criticising what has gone I don't find very constructive at all.
Take care x
With all due respect, I thought I had given advice but I guess what advice you want to hear determines whether or not you will appreciate it.
As for Eon / Scottish Power, compare the overall cost and not D/D. Any supplier can say they can charge you £X per month - but if it is not enough then they will bump it up at next review.0 -
If you already have an MBNA (on hubbie's name), they won't give you a virgin card on his name too, as I think it's one MBNA card per person - MBNA provides virgin card
Also, noticed you have very high bills on telephone + internet + calls. I am on o2, with an o2 landline, and I get calls to the US (600 mins I think) + Telephone + Unlimited internet + landline for £27.50. Check their website. If you're not a big internet user, you can also save some more. Take a look at their website0 -
Thanks Kiki, we do try and turn everything off, even the microwave which has a digital clock gets turned off when not in use. However, with a teenage girl things do get left on (and she gets nagged about it!) sometimes!
Dh is planning on calling Scottish power back this evening to see what we can sort out, also, E-on called last night and they said they could do gas and electricity for £93 a month. This would mean paying a penalty to get out of the Scottish power contract, but might be worth it in the long run.
Thanks for your help
