Did anyone get this sorted out?
Estimated Gas Meter reading: 31-03-2012 = 1432
Meter reader's Meter reading: 13-04-2012 = 1436
(only 4 units different)
and I got charged a "Budget Plan Reconciliation" of £44.
I just don't get it.0 -
I now understand "Budget Plan Reconciliation".
They estimate how much your bill will be for 1 year and then "direct debit" a fixed amount per month (to help spread the cost over the 1 year). This helps butter the "light usage" over summer and "heavy usage" over winter.
Now, when you leave UW, they must debit/credit you with the differences between what you actually paid & their yearly estimate. Best way to see this is to look at your last 2 bills to see the "Keeping track of your budget plan" box. That will show you:
Debit balance from last month £????
Cost of gas you have used this month £??
Your budget plan payment this month £FIXED
Debit balance carried forward £???
It's the last line that is the one you want to look at carefully. That'll make a whole lot sense to why you were charged an extortionate reconciliation.0
