Passport Expiring 4 Days After Return

I've just seen some flights to Faro that I'd like to book but my daughter's passport expires on the 4th of June and we would be returning to the UK on the 31st May. I've checked Ryanair's T&C's and they just seem to ask for a valid passport, and I've checked the FCO website and it says for stays of less than 3 months in Portugal you only need a passport valid for the dates of your intended stay (although it does recommend having a longer validity for unforeseen eventualities). Has anyone had experience of flying with a passport with short validity to Portugal? As her renewal will be her first adult passport we are concerned she might not receive it in time.

Your daughters passport will be valid for the whole trip so there is'nt going to be an issue, especially as you are travelling within the EU
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right

As above, the passport only has to be valid for the duration of the trip in the EU.

Since you had already looked on the authoritative sources of information and found the correct answer, why did you feel the need to come here and ask as well? In most cases, MSE is a less reliable source than the ones you have used, and so if anyone were to tell you anything different from what you had found out, they would simply have been wrong.

The only issue is if she falls ill and it expires before you return. An emergency passport is about £100 and can only be used for a repatriation.

You have plenty of time to renew, once you are on the system renewals only take a couple of weeks.

If you do it now they will add on the period that is left up to 9 months I believe, as long as you have time to get it back

Why do you bother to come on MSE then?
If you are so clever, then what is your secret of being able to sift all the rubbish data from the very rare helpful stuff?

It seemed fair comment by voyager to me - the OP has visited their airline (Ryanair) and the FCO website and got definitive answers. What more could complete strangers on a website add ?

Lots of people don't know where to get information, so discussions about how to find the answer to this kind of question can be useful.
