We're going out today to get a new hob and oven.
DH wants a ceramic one where as at the moment we have an electric hob with the raised bits (sorry not sure what that's called) where you put the pan.
I'm just so worried about scratching it, if you have one are you happy that you did?

i have had my ceramic hob cooker 12 years, and it has 2 scratches which were my fault as i cut something on the top of it, it was a moment of madness, lol. in fact we are getting a new cooker when our kitchen refurb is done and it will be another ceramic hob. hope this helps.0

I love my ceramic hob.
I have accidently scratched mine a few times, but it still looks fine, as they are smal scratches.0 -
I have one and have to say I find it great, they are very tough and not really easy to scratch you would have to be trying if you see what I mean.
The heat is also much more controllable than with the other style so it is easier to cook with.
With regards to cleaning ours came with a scraper similar to the ones that you see in DIY stores for scraping paint off of glass this is great for any burnt on bits, the it is cleaned with hob brite or similar which is designed for these hobs and then buffed up with a micro fibre cloth.
I have had mine for about 8 years now and when I take the time to clean it really well the top of the hob is still like new1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

I used to have one with the raised hob, now have a ceramic hob and love it. Very easy to clean, I love it.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

We've had ceramic hobs on our last two cookers. I think that they're great. The heat's adjustable and it's really easy to clean.
I usually wipe and clean mine after every use - all I use is Hob Brite with kitchen roll then wipe it off. I buff it over with a microfibre towel. It always looks nice. Remember to wait until the hob is cold though! It takes about two minutes to clean. What goes around - comes around

I love mine, so easy to clean and use. I always wanted one, hated having to take bits off gas hob to clean, ceramic looks more neat and attractive! Mine has a few minor scratches, inevitable after a few years use but only noticeable when you look closely.0

I :heart2: my ceramic hob too.
As the others have said, they're so easy to keep cleam and always look great.
One word of advice, if you can, choose one with a s/steel surround. I had two which just had a bevelled edge which sat flush with the worktop, I dropped a bottle of oilve oil on the edge (of both) and they cracked across the whole hob. No such problems with the 'framed' one though.

another vote for Hob-Brite here - had a ceramic hob on both cookers over the past 15 years - just look after them regularly, don't let marks build up, and it should be fine. We also have the touch control version (AEG),

so everything is completely flat and cleans all in one go - it wasn't cheap, but it is lovely!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
I have an induction one and would never go back to anything else. Soo easy to clean and the induction control is brilliant.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0
