Can I claim my expenses

Only if your car is a total loss is there anything recorded against the vehicle itself.I assume that the car will be recorded on some database as being damaged/involved in a claim, which may reduce its value (I bought it new for £28k 16 months ago). Can I claim that?
It is unlikely that what you describe will have caused any depreciation to the vehicle. It is a head of claim that is particularly difficult to get any settlement on and typically you would need an independent engineers report to confirm that the vehicles value has gone down because of the repair.
This will be even harder given you are going to your garage not the insurers and so the counter argument comes in the form of your garage doing sub standard repairs rather than the fact that it is impossible to give an A1 standard repair.0
