Hi all
hope the lurgy soon leaves those that have got it
not done a lot this weekend dont know where the time has gone
put some mince in the slowcooker yesterday and have now divided that up and put in the freezer

Flutterby it's a difficult choice, as far as I am aware caged means they are in cages, so no space to roost, stretch their legs etc. Sainsbugs basics are barn which means they are kept indoors but not in cages although not sure that's much better if they are packed in to a barn without enough space. Is there an Aldi near you? Their free range eggs are less than £2 for 15 if that helps.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Afternoon all, it's been lovely here today. My back is a lot better thanks LW I can't believe it was so bad yesterday and just twinging a bit today. Thanks for the hug Molly it was much appreciated.
Bargain Bird hope you and yours are all better soon and Sistercas's DD too. have been to Mr S and done a big shop so will only need a bit of fresh stuff each week. We did this last month and managed to stay within our budget so will try again this month.
Hope everyone has had some sun and a good day. Hugs to all who need them.:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Thanks Bitsy for your input. Although I'm veggie, I'm not one for particulary ethical reasons IYKWIM, it's just how I was brought up and I've never wanted to try meat. But the thought of caged hens does make me shudder
No Sainsburys here, do have an Aldi so will check their prices on eggs next time.
I've had a truely lazy day
read some magazines, surfed the net and watched tv, nice to chill out! I have done 3 loads of washing though.

FB - I used to buy the s'bury ones too. Keep your eyes peeled for chicken owners, wanting to offload their yeild
- They would be much cheaper too.

I have always bought free range eggs, but today when I went to Morrisons the cheapest option was 12 for £2.50 which 20p an egg, but the caged hens ones were equivilant of 10.8p each if I bought 18. I'm a veggie so do eat lots of eggs, but I don't know if it's 'wrong' to buy caged eggs <insert confused smiley>. I bought free range ones today, but not sure for future. Sadly don't know anyone who sells eggs, and the lovely FR egg stall I used to but from is no longer on my commute so would be pointless going there money wise.

Please dont buy caged eggs unless you really can't afford any different, they are really kept in appalling conditions their 'cages' are often the size of an A4 piece of paper
I cant bring myself to buy anything but free range now, I would rather go without

I think I'm with you there RR, the thought of that is horrid. I'm going to cut back on my eggs a bit to try and eek out each box a bit more.

+1 for free range , im lucky enough to have my eggs and milk delivered by the local farmer , DD2 often goes up to the farm to help with lambing etc and its lovely to see the chickens roaming freely ( I understand some people have no option but to buy caged though)
DD1 hasnt been sick all day :j but hasnt eaten a thing and she has a temperature and wont take any paracetamol in case she is sick again, bless her , hopefully she will sleep tonight ( i hope so as im working tomorrow) and will feel a lot better tomorrow
BB glad DD and DS are improving x0
