The 'Great Keep Your Car Tip Top For Less' Hunt

Ladies, make sure your man can change the oil/plugs for you (give him an exam before he moves in:rolleyes: )
Even better girls, get him to teach you and do it yourself!
My old car (17 years old now) gets a service every 6 months, which I always do myself.
I seek attention from the garage whenever necessary, but there is no need to take it to a garage to replace simple parts or bodywork, I do that myself with cheap second hand parts from scrapyards or from friends online in the Owners' Club. She runs fantastically and sailed through the last two MOTs with no problems. Just check the oil regularly (at least once a week) on these old cars as some of them do eat a fair bit of the stuff.
Well maintained older cars are great value for money. Provided they are looked after, they can go on forever. I've had my current car (it's a Ford I'm afraid Vauxhall lovers, I would never have anything else! :rotfl: ) for about 3.5 years now and she's done 50,000 miles since I owned her and has never failed to start.
I tell a lie. She failed to start once, when the eight-year-old battery finally gave up the ghost. I will forgive her this.0
