How can I get Ice Cream Sandwich on my Sensation XE?

I believe Vodafone have announced they are releasing ICS now for my phone. Could be as simple as me getting a Vodafone SIM and sticking it in the phone, then searching for the update.... or is it only valid for the Vodafone branded versions?

I bought a HTC Sensation XE from Dial-a-Phone late last year. It was an O2 deal but its not O2 branded. Should I assume it's a SIM Free phone, where DAP have just packaged is part of their own deal?

That would then leave me with either waiting for O2 to push out the update, or failing that, HTC doing it for the SIM free devices.

Would the O2 update include my device?

Bit confused....

Assuming you've tried to update the phone via wifi:

Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check Now

What is the build number in:

Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Software number
  • Do you have an objections to rooting your device?

    Otherwise...

    Can't post direct link, sorry.

Excited now. Hope it's bug free.

I've not checked your link but I'm assuming that's an unofficial/non-supported version of ICS?

It isn't. People on various handsets are reporting performance issues and high battery use.

ICS lasted 30 minutes on my Android tablet before I rolled back to the previous version, high battery usage,no ability to transfer apps to sd and wifi kept dropping. Its very pretty but unless you have a hanDset with lots of internal storage I wouldnt bother just yet.

Seems ok so far, slightly faster. Took me a while to get used to the change in don't style. Unfortunately it fits come with extra bumff that you might not want... dropbox, google+, Facebook chat etc. I think they got rid of the HTC Facebook app.

Surely wouldn't have HTC thoroughly tested it for bugs before release?
