finding someone to sell for me on ebay

I moved house a few months ago and the final boxes in the garage are the ones I have been dreading opening.

They are the ones filled with clothes that still have the tags on in various sizes bought over the years. Lots of it is high street and supermarket brands like new look, urban outfitters etc and chances are I will never wear it but can't bear to give it to a charity shop without at least making some effort to recoup the money I have spent.

Are there people out there who will sell on my behalf where we share the profits? If so where do I find them? I have checked out the trading assistant in my area (i.e. within a 30 mile radius) and they only sell sports items and electronics so wouldn't sell what i am looking for.

I don't know if it is just because I am quite tired and busy at the moment but the thought of having to buy an iron to iron it all, display it for photos and then list it and send it to buyers is not very appealing.

With the increase in postage costs I don't even know if it will be worthwhile selling items for <£5 as the P&P costs will ramp up the cost to the buyer.

On ebay they have a directory of Trading Assistants who will list & sell for you. Their fees vary, the ones near me charge 25% of selling price.

Nic26, I have looked on there and said in the OP that none near me sell clothes. I have looked further afield too but would have to travel 50+ miles to drop the stuff off and given the price of deisel I would be as well just donating the lot to charity :-(

Brettcta, it isn't high on the list of priorities for me as there are a million and one things higher up the list but it may come to that if I don't find a solution.

Starrybee, unfortunately not. I have moved to a new area so don't know many people and don't have anyone in the current friends/family list who fits the criteria.

Op - Rather than individually listing the items how about selling them yourself but in job lots by size/type if you have a variety? Taking a lot less time and could be sent via courier or collection from your home?

Still make yourself some money from these unwanted items, but it shouldn't take too long and higher postage charges wouldn't impact on them? :)

You really are better off doing it yourself as a job lot or in bundles, supermarket brand clothes are almost worthless on ebay and I doubt you would be able to find a trading assistant willing to take them on for you. You might do better with the Urban Outfitters stuff though.

Why don't you take them to a second hand clothes shop. They will try and sell for half the new price and you will get half of the sold price. Take the whole lot over (has to be extremely good condition; no tears or missing buttons), and they will tell you what they want or don't want. Will have to be seasonal clothes.

I'd also sell in job lots, if you do bundles of 10 items or so, you should soon get through it.

You could always get a few (and only a few) pence for it from one of the clothes companies that pay by weight. Seems a waste for new clothes though.

Is it really worth the trouble considering the time involved taking photos and listing items? I would take them down to a charity shop.
