Place to stay on Jersey or Guernsey

I want to book a few days away on Jersey or Guernsey and just wonder if anyone can recommend a nice hotel or guest house... we usually look for a family run place not hotel chains...

Have never been there but OH and I prefer somewhere quiet not too posh but preferably near to nice quiet sandy beach and walks but within reach of shops and restaurants sights etc, not sure yet wether to take our car or not...

I don't think you'll find many chains on Jersey or Guernsey, to be honest - it'll be more the family-run type out there.
