I try to tell myself i can then spend it on treats for myself, but im that tight i just like it to be there!!!!
I also get cash out for shopping but have a separate purse/wallet for that money.
It's not that secret - it just sits there and keeps by right buttock warm !
Mrs Cat does the shopping and her bag contains 4 purses - shopping purse, her purse, MTK's purse & MTK2's purse. She does however keep her secret stash in a secret place :rotfl:0 -
I take out my £10 allowance each week and buy my bus ticket, then the rest stays in my purse till I've spent it. Shopping is done with the joint account card, but I would prefer to take cash out for that each week; my husband disgrees. I think he likes to keep a tenner in his wallet at all times.0

I tend to have a £10 note (spare - everything else paid by card) and plenty of change...there's nothing worst than running for a bus only to discover you have no coins!! >_<0

I like to carry about £20.00 in cash just for emergencies (like when I have to go to the pub;) ). Just in case I leave my card wallet at home it will also fill my bike with petrol if needs be.
However it often dwindles down to "coppers only" and I don't suffer if I don't replenish it immediately (especially if the wife sends me out on an errand;) ).
I find that most of the stuff I buy now goes on the cashback credit card which gets paid in full at the end of the month - I'll never pay by cash in a supermarket again!!!0 -

we USED to pay by card at the supermarket but we discovered a disconcerting thing, it became way to easy to sign the chitty and pay the bill at the end of the month.
Nowadays, we take out a set amount of cash each week for shopping, and when its gone, its gone and we don't do any more shopping until next week (as well as using a shopping list and sticking to it) ---- it was possibly the biggest moneysaving thing that we've ever done (perhaps even bigger than the mortgage deal).0 -
I find that if I use my card when I've just popped into the supermarket for a few things, I always feel like I have to spend a certain amount in order to justify using it... anything less than £10 on a card seems ridiculous, somehow.
I'll take £20 or £30 out of the cashpoint, and spend it right down to the last penny before going back - the longer its in the bank, the longer it's earning interest!0 -
i will start the week on a firday with about £120.00 by thursday i have about 70.00 lefti cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing0

Loose change. Usually bare minimums as well. Use my card for everything. Generally don't spend during the week and all food for work is just cup of soups, which are bought when I feel I need more. Don't buy anything else at work.0

About £5-£25 put most spending on credit card (cash back, paid in full each month) used for various things including sons creche who only except cash or cheque and I never take my chequebook with me.
Similar to MTC when we go to the supermarket I stick rigidly to my list and only buy what I need/can afford. But I do use the card as I like the cash back. Keep a close eye to ensure I don't let my tight rain(sp) on the money slip.
I often don't top up my cash for 6-8 weeks.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

I usually spend on my card. Downside is when I go to pick up essentials at Tesco, I usually spend double what I had planned to. Tesco has removed my discipline on many occasions. Although I must say most of what I do buy is goods that I would buy anyway, only that it's on special offer. For me baby wipes, loo roll, that type of stuff is justified when on special offer because it is an everyday necessity. Its better to be mad than to be a mute. Everyone hears the grievance of a madman - whether they acknowledge you or not. The mute is as good as dead...
