I want to grow vegetables indoors on my windowsill

I've got a big windowsill, empty, that gets sun pretty much all day, and I thought it would be good to grow vegetables/fruit on it.

    Basil, lettuce, pea shoots is what I can think off for now. I would have thought most things would do better outside though.

    i grow lettuce, basil, mint, coriander and cress all year round on my windowsill.

    Get a chilli plant - snip off one when you want it and you never have to either go without or buy an overpriced one in a supermarket. Nice splash of colour too.

    Depends just how much space you have, but you could try tomatoes that are bred for baskets, like Balcony Yellow for instance

    If you do go for chilli or any flowering fruit / veg you will need to hand pollinate the flowers, no friendly bees, hover flies or gentle breezes indoors

    Lettuce leaves or herbs seem like the most obvious, though a tomato plant (bush/dwarf) or dwarf cucumber (try species 'spacesaver') could be an option if you use a big pot and feed it well.
