APCOA Civil Parking Notice

Need some advice about a Civil Parking notice i received last week at my local train station. I paid for a full days car parking in the train station car park while i headed to London for the day. I purchased both my train tickets and car parking ticket at the desk that morning, while parking in the free drop off zone. I then jumped in my car, to park it properly in a space in the correct car park.

After driving around a few times i noticed there wasnt any spaces and many cars had parked anywhere they could (ie. not in an allocated bay). As my train was about to arrive i decided to park my car along the railings that builders had put in place to partition off some building rubble, stupidly not making a mental note if there was any signs. I did however make sure there was a massive space for large vehicles to gain access to the rubble and skip if needed.

When i returned to my car i had been issued a civil parking notice stating clause 10 - causing obstruction offstreet. Then written by hand along the side of this sentence was "contractors could not gain access to skip". There was in fact plenty of room to gain access! The fine was for £80 or £50 if i pay within 14day.......!

I feel i paid for a ticket in good faith and it was the train station that is at fault for not providing me with a space that i had originally paid for. Do i have any grounds to appeal or am i going to have to pay. I stupidly rang the appeal line and argued my point, then i was advised to write to the PObox address on the ticket, (he made a note of our conversation). Pulling my hair out now! what should i do? Can anybody give me some advice?
Thanks

The advice (as with any other private parking ticket) is just to ignore. You paid to park and they haven't suffered any material loss. Therefore you don't owe them a penny.

The only thing he made a note of was your details so he can pester you for ignoring the impersonation of authority scam.
Does this ticket mention railway bylaws ?

If they try and argue that you parked in the "wrong part" of the car-park, then that's their mistake for selling parking tickets for non-existent parking spaces.

Yes, you have discovered the utter futility of contacting and trying to reason with scammers.

Everyone is entitled to one mistake.

    Just don't do it again.
