Would you be put off buying a house with Ivy all over the front and sides of it?

I had it on the side of my house too.... I cut through the main trunks and let it die, about a year later I could easily pull off all the dead ivy quite easily as it was dry and easy to snap. It's left dead bits all over the wall and the only way to remove it is scraping and takes forever. It had started to get into the window frames and would likely cause problems sooner or later.
I think if your brickwork is ok then it's not a problem provided you keep it under control.... however I'd never have it on my house again!

I would stay well away. Greenery has it's place - but not growing into your brickwork. I always think ivy on a house is a sign of damp.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I would never, ever buy a house with ivy up the walls. It's just creepy to think of all those earwigs, spiders, insects tucked away in the ivy, just waiting to come indoors when you open the windows
So a naked house for me thanksKEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:0 -
