Egg Card Default notice now shown as Barclaycard

Can any one advice me if it correct for barclaycard to show my account in default after it took over my egg card account
I had cleared all the debt ( 8000) on the card before it was taken over by Barclaycard and asked egg to close the account . On my credit files I am shown as having a default with barclaycard which I dlealry never have has with them .I have asked barclaycard to remove it but they will not .

can i challenge this legally ??

    I don't understand. Did you mean you had a default while it was an Egg card?
    If you had a default then it should show on your credit file. The name it shows as doesn't make any difference.

    If you didn't default on the card, but they have reported a default to the credit reference agencies, then you do need to challenge this

  • default was on egg card in 2008 , completely paid of the outstanding debt in november last year as egg was taken over by barclaycard , default is now shown with barclaycard . is that allowed

    I'm not an expert on what is allowed here but that's exactly what happened to me - Egg debt in IVA was rebadged with the CRAs when BC took over - doesn't make any difference as far as I can see..

    The only snag is for those who had a default Egg card merged to an existing live BC account - I have heard of those customers having their BC cards closed down as a result.
    Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.
