Oh no I don't, I just mean from previous experience with buying things online (e.g. from Topshop) if I buy something and then decide I don't like it/it doesn't fit I haven't had the original postage refunded unless the item has a fault.

Then you do need to read the DSRs and how they apply to you rather than believe what a retailer tells you.

n addition to our returns policy, under the Distance Selling Regulations EU customers have seven working days (beginning the day after receipt) to cancel your purchase (unless it is a purchase of financial services, food, drink or other perishable products; DVDs, CDs or software which have been unsealed; magazines; or tailor-made / customised products). Order cancellations must be made in writing to Customer Services quoting your order number. In this case, we will provide a full refund but you must return the cancelled items to us. If we do not receive the cancelled items back, we may arrange to collect them from you at your cost.

I consider the Disney Store to be a large retailer but even they have it wrong on postage:

    DisneyStore.co.uk Return Policy

If you are not completely satisfied with our goods and service you have the right to cancel your order up to 30 working days after receipt of your product and receive a full refund for the goods. If the goods have arrived to you in a damaged state or if there was an error on our behalf, we will automatically refund the postage costs of returning the goods to us. If however you have simply changed your mind, postage and packing will not be refunded and you will need to return the goods to us in good condition.

If they get away with it then no wonder sellers on ebay try it on.

It's quite staggering how many big companies 'try it on' or don't know the law, lots of stores regularly get fined for minor misdemeanours. It actually just reminded me that it has recently happened to me with a large company and the postage on a returned item is still on my account.

Just to update, eBay refunded my original postage fees when I escalated the case to them and this was done within 5 minutes of the case being with them.

I like to get one over the sellers when I know I am in the right
