Connecting hose to tap help please

Options
Hi,

I've bought a pressure washer but I'm having trouble connecting the hose to the tap.

This is the tap.

This is the hose connector:

When I attach the connector and put the tap on water squirts out over the top and leaves a wet mess everywhere.

My knowledge on hoses and taps is non existant. Do I need to buy an adaptor?

all looks like the right sort of thing, the fact it fits at all is a start.

if thats an actual picture of your adapter, then it seems the normal black washer is in place ? is it still ?

Assuming plastic threaded part doesn't have a split in it, it seems something is stopping you doing it up fully, in which case an extra black washer in the adapter might help

I agree with bob. If the connector is not split then it should seal easily and it only needs to be hand tight.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

    Thanks for replies both.

Black washer is in place. When I attach the connector on its own, the water comes through no issue. I have a hose that's in 2 parts.

The first pipe connects to the hose holder which sends water through to the next part (30m hose pipe). When I attach the first part of the hose alone, the water comes out fine with no leakage. However, when I connect the first part to the base, that's when the problems occur.

    Is it a tap/pressure issue?

I can take pictures of what I mean if this doesn't make sense.

    Thanks

easiest & cheapest thing is to replace (it just unscrews turn the water off first & use ptfe tape on the thread & lots of it) the outside tap with a new one (get one with a check valve built in) then your adaptor will fit
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

well yes, it is a pressure thing
its easier for the water to get out of the free end of the hose, nothing preventing its exit, once you connect to the base ( of jet wash) now the pressure is building up in the hose (not related to jet wash) and its looking for way out
