claiming halifax ppi

Hi everyone

I am only starting to look into claiming back the ppi on my halifax loans and credit card

I have had 3 loads with the halifax in the last 9 years and one credit card

i am currectly in a debt management plan with consumer credit counselling service due to be paid in full may 2013 (6 years in total)

I still owe halifax some on one loan and creditcard and if i could claim some ppi back to reduce the money owed i would be very glad.

I still have the credit agreements i signed for all 3 loans, is the ppi the loan insurance? aslo there is credit charges for the insureance loan can this be claimed?

also the creditcard i dont have a copy of the agreement for the repayment cover on the credit card, i have some statments dating back 2007 with them stating repayment cover, is this the ppi?

Could l claim all of the above together and get halifax to take them from my dmp?

As im unsure of how to deal with this i hope someone will be able to shed some light on this for me

many thanks in advance

You dont get the choice. If they agree to refund (which will likely happen as Halifax are auto paying out) they can first use the redress against any amount written off (so if your DMP involved an agreement to only pay 60% of your debt, they can refund it against the 40% written off). After that, they will apply it to arrears/defaults/DMP.

With the loans they will be front loaded, a loan paid for over the term with interest, this is the reason you use for these.

For the CC claim you only need the card number and reasons for mis sell

You can do the claims over the phone.

Any redress will go towards the DMP, the 8% is taxable and if Halifax do not take this off then you will have to inform the Inland Revenue.
  • hi

i went into the dmp paying the full amount on everything but at a reducted payment each month, the only thing that stopped was the charges each month (on creditcard and store card). I will contact them on monday and see what they say

If i get money off my dmp so i can finish quicker then i will be more than happy, i never was told i had a choice and the last loan was like £3000 ppi and if i had the choice i would not have had it on the loan as it upped the cost by a lot!

thanks for the help, i will keep everyone updated

One last question if the ppi refund is more than what i have left on my dmp will i get it sent to me?

    You should.
  • To give you a little hope.....i sent my PPI claim to Halifax around 2 weeks ago. Within a week i had a standard reply looking into my account. Today i received a letter saying it had cleared my loan ( only had 2 more payments) and i would receive the rest, £5000 in a cheque!!!

    Have faith, and good luck!!
