When I finished shopping this morning the local Sainsbury had a tanker outside and all three "lanes" of the petrol station were stacked both sides with people still filling up, that was 9 or so this morning.

It would be cynical to suggest the Government wanted a nice boost to revenues and the strike threat was a smokescreen ;)

I bought 300 stamps but that's hardly a "panic" thing.
    FACT.

Waters the next big panic, with hosepipe bans and summer coming.

So I am going to fill Jerry cans, buckets, my bath and all avaliable recipticals in my house just in case.

And what about the possible baggage handlers strike. I suggest you send your clothes and swimwear 3 weeks ahead of your departure date.

I filled up instead of a half fill, before all the panic though so never actually saw any queues. I do as few miles as possible so should see me through the neccessities whatever happens.

On my way to work, walking, I noticed that my local Tesco have queue of cars waiting to get into Tesco Petrol station, therefore, no other cars can get into Tesco to do their shopping! The queue also went out on the main road and around the roundabout.

I assumed they closed the petrol station since Police asked them or to allow shoppers and other motorists to use the main road/getting to Tesco. It was not due to fact the petrol ran out since I saw few cars on the forecourt, most likely staffs filling up their cars on my way back.

    Cheers

Well hooray for common sense in that case. I always marvel at how many people simply loose all manner of road etiquette at the merest hint of traffic or fuel station malarkey.

Good call to close that particluar station in my view.

That's ingenious. If you're in the drought area, you could bathe in it too. Two birds with one stone and all that.

I've panic bought a couple of cases of nice wine. I need it to cope with the insanity that seems to have gripped my fellow countrymen.

I finally got petrol today after trying since Wednesday, would have had to go out tomorrow in search as on vapours. Pulled into filling station, on way home, straight to a pump. Chaos over I thought, little knowing they'd just had a delivery and it wasn't yet widely known.

By the time I left having paid over £70 for my fuel, the queues were 5 deep again and all of the people around me were putting £10 in, even though there was no crisis. There's nowt queer as folk.

I normally don't fill up until I'm on fumes but just had a trip down to the South-West from the midlands so decided to follow government advice. Filled up at Tesco near work Thursday lunchtime (no queue), filled up half a tank at Tesco near Exeter (11pm - no queue), filled up again at a Shell in Teignmouth last night (no queue). Didn't see any queues all weekend on the M5 either although not surprised at their prices.
