Treated myself (a wee bit long)

OS feels like home so I hope it's ok to post here.
Over the last few months, I moved into my new house and have really come such a long way. I can even make a white sauce without checking a recipe! Trust me, this is a big acheivement as I can't do anything without a recipe and had never made a white sauce until a few months ago. I bought a slow cooker which is brilliant and I'm making some lovely dishes with all of your recipes. I'm using stardrops and meal planning and it makes me really happy about what I'm doing for me and for my OH.
I'm not frightened any more of making rubbish meals or making mistakes. I've got my eye on a Panny breadmaker too, but not going to buy it just yet. My OH thinks I'm brilliant! but I remind him that it's all down to MSE.
Well, the good news is that I applied for a new job at work and I got it! It means a little extra cash, but I'll be upping my mortgage payments so I won't waste it away on rubbish, BUT I did treat myself a little bit. I'm always lurking here, reading through hours of posts and this week tray bakes caught my attention so I've bought myself a tray bake and a tray bake box from Lakeland. Can't wait to try it out.
Really what I want to say, is everyone on here is so inspirational. I love reading your menu planners, trying out your recipes, reading about your challenges (although I have gone to the supermarket this month). If I hadn't found you all, my home life would be so different and I'd be wasting so much money on rubbish that I don't need. In 30 years, I hope to be a dab hand in the kitchen and I might even own a sewing machine!
I hope that in time I can give you all something back even if it's just a recipe. Thank you to all of you.
(Sorry it was a bit long)

what a lovely post mookybargirl, sounds like you've some on miles, well done! and a little treat every now and again is a good idea, i think! especially if its a treat that will help you be more OS!!
i ought myself a sprouting jar, a microwave saucepan (not v OS but helpful for quick lunches and reheating soup) and a spare yoghurt jar in Lakeland the other day - its good to treat yourself occasionally if there are a few spare pennies (esp when you have saved them on other things!)Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
That is a cheering post and I completely agree with you.
I always feel justified in buying myself an OS-related treat if I can afford it. I inned to move house just so I have more room to store my casserole dishes/baking trays/ chopsticks...0 -
Well done you on the new job!!!
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I can't believe how happy I am - cooking and cleaning and how proud I feel when it all comes together. Everyone's invited to mine for some coffee and either lemon drizzle sponge or flapjacks obviously when my tray bake comesLove MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0
