I've given up on HPC (forum)

You can say what you want about HPC but give them some credit - they did have the sense to ban Sibley, Hamish, mr ree and the other bull trolls.
What is a bull troll?
Somebody who doesn't agree house prices will crash?
I used to post what I believed in. Turns out I got it right and all the HPC experts were proved wrong.
The best thing they ever did was to ban anyone with a different view. Most of the people on there now are either unemployed or minimum wage earners.
Bruce Banner is some old bloke living on his own. He'll be dead soon so who cares if he did make money out of renting rather thn buying.
If I was him I'd be in Thailand spending any money he has on girls. A lot more fun than looking at a bank book. :rotfl:We love Sarah O Grady0 -
All the best posters have had their internetz cut off on HPC, and not just house prices, disagree on anything and you get the HPC dead line tone. Since you never get an official "you are banned, ye housebuying witch" email, it's suspiciously like someone who shouldn't have the password to the user database is putting the muzzle on.0

The best thing that site could do would be to invite the bulls back. The traffic would be massive. We love Sarah O Grady0

sibley,,you still have not got over being banned have you? i pity you!It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

They aren't really going to put that in writing though are they? They just want people to disappear quietly, which works for the most part.
I wouldn't be surprised if Realistbear can't log in anymore, or a lot of the forum old guard.
I can see why they banned certain people who ended up over here though. There's a difference between presenting an alternative opinion and endlessly trying to wind people up.
If someone kept going on an Arsenal forum and posting 15 threads a day saying "Ya boo Arsenal suck Chelsea are much better", they'd get banned from there too.0 -

Speaking of bannings, I see that brit1234's sockpuppet, NegativeEquity, has just been banned from MSE
Shame really.0 -

Yes I have actually.
I find these house price site rather boring now and hardly go on them.
If these was going to be a crash or big price rise it would be ok but nothing is happening out there.
Now its a few people like me who want prices to go up and a few who want them to drop. We have said it all before. Only so many times you can reinvent the wheel. We love Sarah O Grady0 -
Same here.guitarman001 wrote: »Used to post on HPC but I've sent three e-mails over the course of 2 months and no reply whatsoever. I can log in but not post, nor check any of my private e-mails. Poor performance, HPC, very poor.
I joined as a bear in 2007, and from the start was upfront that I used to be a bull and an ex-EA to boot. They never had a problem with that.
But then in 2012 I posted a couple of times that I thought the nominal falls were over and put the word "bull" in my profile and BANG! that was it. Five years and 6,000 posts during which I called (pretty much) the 2007 top, the winter 2008/09 bottom and the grinding biflation of 2009 - 12. But two threads saying prices would be flat or up a bit and I was [STRIKE]banned[/STRIKE] put in the "new users" group so I can't post.
What annoys me (and I am annoyed) is that I used to post on GlobalHPC with people like Magpie and Tom and Cletus and Mushroom and Slater14 and D23, most of whom had been banned by HPC and were way more sensible than the uber bears (or the uber bulls). And yet I kept posting on HPC and continued to think they only banned trolls.
It must have been some form of addiction...0 -

A very similar thing happened on Motley Fool nearly two years ago. They had some brilliant posters of the bear persuasion that posted articulate clear concise on often extremley funny posts. A bulleted check list was sent out to the PMT board to what they classed as the worst bear offenders of what they could not talk about.
In the space of about two weeks dozens of posters were removed/vanished, you are now left with just a few boring bull posters one of which logs on every day and contributes over 50% of the posts, and they have allowed one nutcase bear to remain so the rest can pick on him.
Rumour has it that it was a sponsorship thing, people trying to sell certain products connected with housing only to read a very bearish board on that site did not go down well.
So it is not only HPC that gets up to that kind of stuff.0 -

I seem to have been banned from posting too though, and have no idea why!! Although I did have a short exchange with Bruce Banner recently, maybe he's the guy who's banning everyone?
Maybe the clue is in the name
