I HATE Currys & Hoover

Sorry to be so dramatic, but I'm literally shaking with rage at the moment.
Bought a washing machine 17 Feb (at 11.30pm!) last year online with Curry's this was delivered & installed by them.
It played up a couple of times & refused to drain & one flooding the kitchem - so far so boring.
Last Thursday, I put a load on & it refused to drain, so did the usual things of turning it off, putting it on draining /spin new cycles etc, leaving lots of time for it to reset. It hasn't worked and gave in today & rang Currys.
They passed me to hoover where this really annoying woman told me that they would charge me to come check it out as it was a year old. I told her that
A - even if they had delivered on the day of order, it would have been in my house for a year and a week and
B - that I expected a £306.78 less discount washing machine to last a d@mn sight longer than that...
She has basically been gibbering on about the fact that I should have insurance rather than the fact that there is a shoody product in my house and basically asked me what I expected????
Have asked to speak to customer services as I am really upset at the moment, my skin's literally burning and I just want to cry...
Have been on hold (0870 number of course!) for the past 7 mins waiting to be transfered:mad:

Have you emptied the filter? This is something I am useless at remembering to do and every single time my Hoover has failed to drain it has been because the filter or pipework is blocked with something. Therefore, it is entirely possible that this not actually an issue of the machine failing but being bunged up. If you can pull the machine out, put it on to spin and shake the outlet hose. Be very careful though. Shake it over the sink or into a bucket on the floor. We only had this happen again two weeks ago and yet again I had fluff in the filter and lumps of deposits in the hose.0

Will do...
It gets better. I apparently 'must have been misusing the machine'.
Two possible issues to check:
The filter (me)
The pipework (installed by Currys so checked by them)
Have managed to get someone to confirm that they delivereed 27 Feb 2006 (apparently they distroy records after 3 months)
At the very least, this is under a year & will be emailing both Curry's & Hoover to formally register the fault (Just in time!!!!!) and ask what they mean to do about it & if they endorse the fact that I shouldn't expect their product to last a year and it must have broken down due to my misuse.
Will definatrley be avoiding both companies"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
The thing is, if the pipework is blocked that is unlikely to have anything to do with Hoover unless it is installed incorrectly. If that was the case then I would have expected you to have had problems by now. One of our great limescale unblocking exercises involved putting drain rods down the pipework out to the drain to shift the blockage caused along there. We also had to strip the pipework inside the machine and get all the limescale out of that.
Only when we had cleared all this build up did the machine start to drain again.
I would hate for you to have someone out to this and they say it is a limescale plug as I don't think you would be covered under warranty for that in any event. When I had my motor changed the engineer did my filter as well and told me that if he had only come out because of the filter problem I would have been charged, even though it was affecting the machine's performance.0 -
Would using Calgon in the machine help prevent lime scale or is this just a hype? I bought a Candy washing machine which is part of Hoover nearly 8 years ago its had the bushes changed twice and is still going strong, so yes i would expect a washing machine costing what you paid to last allot longer that 12 months, i paid just less than £200.0

I actually use vinegar instead of calgon. Unfortunately though it was about two months after taking the advice on these forums to do that, that we had the huge limescale blockage.
We have just changed the brushes on our Hoover again! This is the third set in seven years and two motors.
We will never buy an expensive machine again and definitely not Hoover.0 -

I hope Currys didn't tell you that  I used to work for the shoddy company (never again) I can assure you that the records of what you buy are kept for at least 5-6 years  . Good Luck and if the worst comes to it don't be frightened to take them to small claims for SOGA its very simple. I have just taken Currys to court and settled out of court - it is very simple and straight forward although a pain in the backside
Good Luck,
Claire xWife to a great husband and mum to 4 fantastic kids 9,8,4,3 they drive me mad but I would do anything and give everything for my family :grinheart
