Printer to print wedding invites

Could anyone recommend a decent quality printer to print wedding invites ourselves?

It depends if the paper you want to use has a sheen finish. I made wedding invitations for myself on a regular HP inkjet and they were fine as the paper was absorbent, but I made invitations for my friend's wedding and the paper had a metallic finish and when printed on a inkjet it smeared, so I had to print them in work on a laserjet.

Any printer, will do this just fine, but as said its the paper that will make or break it.
  • Not a sheen finish, printed on normal card, double sided, although i could probably do this myself if the printer doesnt.

But something below kind of £80 or so that is quite good quality. Dont even know where to start looking or what to look at in terms of printer quality

If you're going to print them, I would type in the names of the people you're inviting individually - nothing worse than seeing a nice wedding invite spoilt by someone's not so great handwriting - not saying your handwriting isn't nice but I work in design so these things I notice.

Thing is the better quality printer you get, like a duplex laserjet one, the toners/inks outprice it for casual home use. What about setting up what you want and taking it to a photocopy/print shop? - most places can do double sided, colour copying on card these days from a disc or memory stick
    Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
    And now the final frame
    Love is a losing game

Mine had sheen finish - I found if I printed them on normal quality they didn't smear, if I printed them on high-quality they DID smear.

Was on a bog standard HP deskjet and they did come out incredibly well - and my printer's pretty abused by heavy overuse!

Honestly any printer will do. This £30 one would do the job, duplexing, means double sided, to do this just print one side then the next.

That would depend on how many invites, whether colour is used etc, those 301 cartridges don't come with much ink, personaly I'd find out how much a local print shop would charge to print them off a memory stick.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

Could you print on basic paper for an insert, and just have glossy outer cover? Or maybe you could do some DIY decorating with craft bits and bobs?
  • I am still impressed with the quality and service you would get with PrintPlace. You should check them out.
