What does everyone pay monthly/yearly on electricity?

I ask this question having just read the following from the belfast telegraph
"Meanwhile, electricity bills have gone up by 18.5% over the last 12 months, with the average yearly bill sitting at £588 this month compared to £496 the previous year."

Now I am currently paying £98 per month whereas the figure they are reckoning average at £49 per month.
Ok yes we some times use the tumble dryer but does anyone else only pay £49 a month. Where am I going wrong ... maybe someone is tapping into my electric lol.

We pay £46 a month. It depends on the size of your house, the amount of people in it and how long your in it.
We're a family of 4 with 2 young kids. I use my tumble drier maybe 6 times a week! However we're quite good a turning plugs off at the wall, and we're both out at work Monday to Friday.
This is the highest I've ever paid and will probably look to reduce it.0 -

Turn everything off at the plug, it's the only way you'll really see a massive difference I reckon. At the moment the only items we've on is the fridge/freezer and a wee separate freezer, the skybox and tv are on standby, a lamp and the bt wifi thingy :rotfl: Every other socket is off at the wall.
I bought a few of those extension leads with remote controls for hard to reach places, extractor fan, behind drawers in the kids rooms, and in behind computer desks. They are the kinda things we do. We will start and try to reduce things further
Oh Im also with Budget energy since September0 -

Have a Tumble Dryer and use it regularly, also have several Laptops etc. But we use Energysaving Bulbs everywhere, switch off Sockets all the times etc.0 -

Got all my energy saving bulbs fitted, all other plugs are always off at the switch. I think I have exactly what you have on at the moment sky etc. We are trying to find out exactly what is using all the electric scarely stuff when the average is half of what we are paying.. This is will be our Easter Adventure find the item using the electric. Or who is using my electric.
With Budget also, always trying to save money.0
