Don't mean to put a damper on anything but the staircase is a bit meh. It's not that special.0

They do afternoon tea on Sundays. You'd get better value tea almost anywhere else! Good views from the top floor but yea, the staircase isn't amazing in my opinion.0

I went yesterday. My Dad & my 8 yr old loved it as did I. Only big disappointment was the 'ride' wasnt open. Havent a clue what it entails but my son was so annoyed-he was so looking forward to it. I wasnt told when I picked the tickets up nor were there any posters anywhere saying it was broken:mad: At least if I had to have been prewarned I could have broke it to him gently.
As it says in another post I would deffo eat somewhere else before going. I took their advice & did-but after tour I thought we would have coffee:mad: Im still getting over shock of prices.0 -
The 'shipyard ride' is closed again?
We went a few months ago, and it wasn't working then either. Mind you, it was working a few weeks later for the visit of HMQ.
It left a bad taste that we received no voucher for a reduced return visit or, indeed, anything in the way of recompense.

I did the ride, its about 10 minutes at most. Queues manic for it.
The Ulster Museum Cafe is far more expensive, or so we found.0 -
We weren't at an event or anything but managed to see the staircase anyway!!!
We'd been trying to get to one of the ground floor cafe's for cuppa before starting the tour but they were all jam packed. One member of staff mentioned tea and scones on the 5th floor *info saved for later*
Anyway, got served and seated downstairs after all, and went on the tour.
No grand staircase in sight.
BUT.
On checking the map, there is no 5th or 6th floor.
Hmmmm... Hunger and thirst (and curiosity) got the better of us, and off we headed up in the lift to the 5th floor. Time I think was about 3.30pm by this stage. Floor was deserted except for the 'waiters' clearing up, and a couple seated at a small table finishing their tea.
I think they do some 'thing' between 12 and 3pm on the 5th floor and you pay for tea and scones. Staircase, tables, seats, staff, everything, would be just as if you were actually on Titanic.
The nice gentleman who explained all this must've took pity on us, and allowed us in for a quick nosey and couple of photosWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Just got back from Belfast and have to say I loved the Titanic experience it was amazing and I thought very good value for money.
The ride was really cool and took about 6 mins.
I didn't think the cafe prices were that bad for the quality you got. I treated my mum and me to a slice of cake each an it was great. Worth every penny and was a decent slab of cake. Compared to some places in London I thought they had it about right.
I also did the walking tour that takes you into the docks and the person who did it was great very informative, a good laugh and brought the whole shipyard to life.First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Just adding a note to this thread.
We went to Titanic Exhibition last week and found it really interesting. OH served his apprenticeship in a Scottish shipyard nearly 70 years ago and found the photos, etc all very similar to his experience of shipbuilding. Brought back many memories for him.
We booked ahead and were able to book a mobility scooter which made all the difference to OH's visit. Staff were exceptionally helpful throughout.
Caf! prices were a bit of a shock, but typical of other tourist venues.
Had read people complaining of their children not enjoying visit, but saw a party of primary schoolchildren there who seemed to be having a great time.0 -
Friend of mine was there on Saturday-shipyard ride not going again:mad: She said the same as me-no signs to say it was closed or no-one told her when they got their tickets :mad:0
