Hire Car - excess insurance Claim - Pls Help

Hello guys,

Need some help here pls .............

Hired a car for 10 days, had a scuff which happened while I reversed into a bush, Hire car pple charged 250 for repairs.

Now I have got Annual Car Hire Insurance as I used to hire like this often in the past.
Contacted them and they confirmed that once I send all the relevant documents, they would process my claim and I will be paid the £250 back.

Now my question is I have got 9 plus years of No Claim bonus, which is not been used now as I don't own a car these days. But when I need to get one in 2-3 months, would I have to disclose that I had made a claim on the rental car?? If this is the case, I might not bother claiming, as it would make an impact when I come to get insurance for my car later in the year.

Can some one pls confirm if my understanding is right. Or is there a way around this?

Yes you will need to disclose it.

The underwriting questions will ask whether you have had any accidents or claims in the last xx years. If you say no you will be lying and should you have any claims in future may find the insurers refusing to cover you or pay out.

Regardless of whether you claim you will still need to disclose your accident.

It will be registered in the CUE database that insurers use so they will know you have claimed.

If you dont declare that yourself they can use it as a get out clause if you make a claim yourself.

    thanks guys,

I guess it's not really worth claiming it against the Policy then.
