hey!
a mate and i are planning to go away somewhere at the start of may, from monday to friday, but we are not sure where to go.
he suggested ryanair for a cheap flight, or we could try the eurostar and not go as far away.
the main thing is it being cheap and just to get away from the uk for a few days, go somewhere different.
we will be travelling from london, we are 30/31.
so just wondered if anyone has a recommendation for somewhere suitable to go and how to get there?
thanks

to narrow it down a bit we would like a break to do a bit of cycling, so if anyone knows a good place to cycle in europe where you can hire bikes easily then please let me know0

Lanzarote is a pretty good destination for cycling and Ryanair fly there regularly. Some very good cycling routes with plenty places to hire a bike, whether it be a town bike or a top of the range carbon fibre race bike. It's a very popular destination for winter training for top class triathletes and has some great eating places/bars with a large beeer costing around €1.50. Can highly recommend Puerto Del Carmen which is the largest and most touristy resort on the island, it is also only a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport which will set you back around €12. It's also very well served for accomodation with the majority being apartments which can be booked via the usual outlets. We usually book via TravelRepublic and you can get decent standard accomodation from as little as £20 a night.0

Isn't Lanzarote a bit hilly? How about Holland, nice and flat. Do you have bikes? you could take them with a bike rack on the car/ferry0

You can cycle from Puerto Del Carmen to Arrecife (approx 30km round trip) via a cycle track without touching a hill. You can go onto Costa Teguise if you want to go a little further.
If you want to go off the cycle track then there are plenty of routes which will involve hills, but that's generally what cyclists want. Nothing more boring than cycling along on the flat constantly, depends whether you are a casual cyclist or not.0 -
Thanks to all for the posts, we have decided to do the London to Paris cycle ride, via Newhaven ferry and Eurostar back. Looking forward to it!0
